Nexus Arts

Presented as part of Spirit Festival 2017 in partnership with Nexus Arts

Spirit Festival 2017 and Nexus Arts Venue are thrilled to present Kevin Kropinyeri’s ALL NEW stand up show!

Australia’s premier Aboriginal comedy star, Kevin Kropinyeri is a one-man whirlwind that will have you holding your sides laughing, as he shares tales of growing up, marriage and the particular, absurd challenges of life as an Aboriginal Australian family man.

A high-energy performer, Kevin is sharp, likeable, silly and measured; mixing keen observational standup with joyfully ridiculous physical comedy.

Kevin is a bona fide star of the Indigenous performing arts, appearing at the Deadly Awards at the Sydney Opera House six years running. He is also a regular feature of the festival circuits and a Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow regular.

Deadly Funny

Wed, 1 Nov

Presented by Spirit Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Cheeky and loud, black and proud, Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s national comedy competition unearths the freshest and funniest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent from across the country. Local heats of Deadly Funny land in November 2017 and will also feature a star-studded comedy line-up of Australia’s best Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comedians.

A trip to Melbourne and $2000 is up for grabs! Deadly Funny is heading into its 12th year and is a significant and vibrant part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. This one-of-a-kind comedy event is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 18 and over.

To participate, all you have to do is have up to 5 minutes of funny material. It’s basically storytelling with a punchline!

Entrants will take part in a private workshop with a professional comedian, followed by a public live performance. Special guest judges will decide who travels to Melbourne for the National Grand Final.
